Cairn — Travel Expense Tracker

Last updated: 3 June 2026

The short version

Cairn does not collect your personal or financial data. There is no account to create, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. Your expenses stay on your device and in your own private iCloud.

What Cairn stores, and where

Your expenses, trips, budgets, and related entries are stored on your device and synced across your own devices using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) in your private database. This data is accessible only to you through your Apple ID. The developer cannot see or access it.

Location

If you allow location access, Cairn uses your location only on your device to suggest a category for an expense (for example, a café becomes “Coffee”) and, if you enable the optional end-of-day reminder, to prepare your daily timeline. Your location is never stored off your device, never transmitted to the developer, and never logged.

Network access

Cairn makes one kind of network request: fetching currency exchange rates from a third-party service (Frankfurter). These requests contain only currency codes — no personal, financial, or device information is sent.

Analytics & tracking

None. Cairn contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs and does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA). Nothing about your usage is collected or reported.

Purchases

Cairn Premium is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; Cairn never receives your payment details.

Children

Cairn is rated 4+ and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
