Introduction

Welcome to MileIO. We built this app with one core principle: your data belongs to you, and only you.

MileIO is a privacy-first fuel tracking application for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle (or rather, don't handle) your personal information.

Information We Do NOT Collect

MileIO does not collect, transmit, store, or have access to:

• ❌ Your fuel entry data (dates, odometer readings, costs, locations, notes)
• ❌ Your vehicle information (make, model, year, fuel type)
• ❌ Your personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
• ❌ Your location data (GPS coordinates, addresses)
• ❌ Your photos or camera data (receipt images, odometer photos)
• ❌ Your usage analytics (how you use the app, features you access)
• ❌ Your device information (device model, OS version, unique identifiers)
• ❌ Your Apple ID or iCloud information

Why? Because MileIO is designed to be completely serverless from our perspective. All your data lives exclusively in two places:

1. Locally on your device - Stored in the app's private container
2. In your private iCloud account - Synced via Apple's CloudKit Private Database

We have zero backend servers, no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no data collection infrastructure.

How Your Data is Stored

Local Storage

When you add vehicles or log fuel entries, this data is stored locally on your device in the app's private sandbox. This data is protected by iOS security features and is inaccessible to other apps.

iCloud Sync

MileIO uses Apple CloudKit Private Database to sync your data across your Apple devices. Here's what that means:

• Encrypted in Transit: Data is encrypted when syncing between your devices and iCloud
• Encrypted at Rest: Data is encrypted when stored in iCloud
• Access Control: Only you can access your private database using your Apple ID credentials
• Apple's Privacy: Apple's privacy policy applies to iCloud data storage
• No MileIO Access: We (the developers) have zero access to your private CloudKit database

Camera and Photo Usage

MileIO requests camera access for two OCR (Optical Character Recognition) features:

1. Receipt Scanning: To capture and extract fuel data from gas station receipts
2. Odometer Scanning: To read your vehicle's dashboard odometer display

Important Privacy Notes:

• On-Device Processing: All OCR processing happens locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework
• No Image Storage: Receipt and odometer photos are NOT saved, stored, or transmitted anywhere
• No Cloud Processing: Images are never sent to our servers or any third-party services
• Immediate Deletion: After text extraction, the camera data is immediately discarded
• You Control Access: You can revoke camera permission at any time in iOS Settings

Third-Party Services

MileIO does not use any third-party services, including:

• ❌ Analytics platforms (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• ❌ Crash reporting services (no Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
• ❌ Advertising networks (no ads, period)
• ❌ Social media SDKs (no Facebook SDK, Twitter SDK, etc.)
• ❌ Payment processors (the app is free, no in-app purchases)
• ❌ Backend servers (completely serverless)

The only Apple service we use is CloudKit, which operates under Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

We do not share your data with anyone. Ever.

Because we don't have access to your data, we couldn't share it even if we wanted to. The only way your data leaves your device is when you explicitly choose to:

• Export to CSV: You can export your fuel data to a CSV file and share it via the iOS share sheet
• Generate PDF Reports: You can create PDF reports of your fuel history
• Sync to Your Other Devices: Data syncs to your other Apple devices via your private iCloud account

Your Rights and Controls

You have complete control over your data:

Access Your Data

Your data is always accessible within the MileIO app. You can view all your vehicles and fuel entries at any time.

Export Your Data

Use the "Export to CSV" or "Generate PDF Report" features in Settings to download your complete fuel history.

Delete Your Data

• Delete Fuel Entries: Swipe left on any entry and tap Delete
• Delete Vehicles: Swipe left on any vehicle and tap Delete (this also deletes all associated fuel entries)
• Delete All Data: Uninstall the app and delete your iCloud data by going to iPhone Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > MileIO > Delete Data

Children's Privacy

MileIO does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. Since we don't collect any data, COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) does not apply.

International Users

• GDPR Compliance (EU): Since we don't collect personal data, GDPR obligations don't apply
• CCPA Compliance (California): We don't sell personal information (we don't have any to sell)
• Privacy Laws: We comply with all international privacy laws by simply not collecting any data

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by posting the updated policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
