takt collects nothing. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. There is no network code in the app at all — nothing it reads from your car can leave your iPhone, because there is no mechanism by which it could.

What takt reads

When you connect a Bluetooth OBD-II adapter, takt asks your car for live operating values — things like engine speed, coolant and oil temperature, battery voltage, vehicle speed, and, on electric cars, pack temperature and state of charge. If your car is reporting a diagnostic trouble code, takt reads that too, so it can show you what it is.

takt does not read your VIN or any other vehicle identifier. It does not read location, and it never asks for location permission — the distance it shows is derived from your car's own speed and odometer signals, not from GPS.

What takt stores, and where

Everything below is written to takt's own folder on your iPhone and nowhere else:

Session logs — the raw back-and-forth between takt and your adapter, kept so a problem can be diagnosed after the fact.
Trips — distance, duration, and a short summary of each drive.
Two small settings — which vehicle you last picked, and whether you have seen the adapter-check card.

These files are deliberately visible: open the Files app, look under On My iPhone → takt, and you can read, copy, or delete any of them yourself. They are yours. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is shared unless you choose to send a file to someone.

Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else, because there is nowhere else.

Bluetooth

takt requests Bluetooth permission for one purpose: to talk to your OBD-II adapter. It does not scan for, catalogue, or report any other device.

Children

takt is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Since the app has no network access, a change to this document can only ever describe a change to a future version of the app.
